In Memphis they say they can tell one of the 8th Iowa from any other Regt among a lot of Soldiers by their clean clothes and Blacker boots and white gloves the other Soldiers here dont like us because we get all the praise and they none and there are a class of Citizens here that dispises us and they are afraid to open their heads when one of us is near for fear he will be a arested Memphis is getting to be a civil place if it was not for a few men here that Sells whiskey to Soldiers it would be the civilist place on the River it has been very warm since we come here until yesterday it commenced raining and is raining yet it is getting very disagreable out doors getting around Well I will close ror this time hoping I will hear from you soon give my compliments to Mary F she and Mary Robuck I think they are indebtted a letter to me for them pictures.
