6 This is a very nice city very good buildings in it and about two thirds of the people are secesh We expect to stay here till we get word from our regt i understood that the regt was to meet us here and then we was to go to Leavenworth and from there to Chilicothe as the rebels was very troublesome on that road i know not how true it is The weather is cold it snowed the night before we left Morristown about 8 inches deep and it was very tiresome travelling We have hired a cook to cook for our mess he is a negro We give 8 per month that is 72 8/ct a piece there is 11 of us here in a mess he is barber also
