August the 13. Dear Sister I take the present opportunity of dropping you a few lines which will inform you that we are in tolerable health at I have a bite on my knee which is not very pleasant I received your letter some time ago and was glad to hear that you was all well and you said that you would come here if I would take you back this fall Well I can't but come any how and you will get a chance some way to get back and if you don't come I want you to sent all my books out by J. Horton and don't for get that (Meladea?) and send me all the likenesses that you have got of the family and if you don't want me to keep them I will send them back to you again
