4th [?] Fayette Co. Oct. 14, 1917 1079 N. Marengo Ave Pasadena, Calif. My dear Mrs. Whitley,– This is just a [line] to tell you how sorry I am not to have been able to cooperate in the college fund conservation campaign. My parents are not very well, so my [?] I am spending a month with them just now – your letter was forwarded to me here. I presume, however, the students are being interested in various ways, as a letter was forwarded to me from the [? Y.N.] office conservatory the million dollar Student Friendship War Fund. I had had Fayette canvasse for signatures for [?] pledge cards and met with a very [?] response – almost 300 in a time of 1200 – I shall be here early in [?]. Cordially, Emma Ridley Costegrove
