One of them brought in a peacock table-fan which he said he intended to give to the Colonel's wife, who accompanied him. She is a beautiful woman, but quite out of her sphere. Another squad brought in a large box of fine tobacco, taken from a tobacco store, which was divided among the Regiment. Another party went into the National Hotel bar, ordered all they could drink, had their canteens filled, and then completely gutted the rooms. All right: Numerous other depredations were committed too numerous and trifling to mention
