China 14 Dec. 1944 Dear Dave & Mable This may be a little late for xmas but I hope it gets there in time to wish you the merries of xmas and a very happy new year with the return of a lot of people who have been away too long. We have been very busy lately a little too busy most of the time - one consolation is that time goes very rapidly. It doesn't seem possible that it is almost xmas. I hope next year will bring about a lot of changes in the world situation and that a lot of the boys get home. I am sending you a Chinese $1 bill it is practically worthless - you couldn't buy anything with it. The money set up over here is realy something it takes $100 to get a hair cut and everything is high. A dozen eggs [was?] $210 how would you like to sell you eggs at that price. Of couse that $210 is less than one American dollar so it isnt so much. Dave I will try to get you a nice letter written soon. I sure enjoy getting the Scuttlebutts and they get here in good time. Take good care of things in Washington for us. And particularly yourself hope you are feeling ok now. Roy [2nd Lt. Roy A. Fields]
