20 January, 1946 Dear Dave, I'm definitely ashamed of myself but there's no excuse for me not writing. It's Sunday as you can see by the date. I just finished a good dinner, chicken, spuds and all the accessories. The best meal we've had since Xmas. The main reason for writing this letter is because I want to tell you about this place we're in. The name is Garmisch - Partenkirchen. Now it's not hard to pronounce. Just look at it and say it. When I get home (in June sometime) I will drop in and see if you got it right. O.K.? If you remember the 1936 Olympics you'll remember this is where they were held. They have all kinds of sports here. They specialize in winter sports. They have big ski jumps (over)
