Jan 5th march at day break country hilly road crooked inhabitants few & very poor, pass by an iron works where the ore is smelted & made into pigs the water in this vicinity is excelent march about 16 miles 6th morning warm & rainy in the afternoon it snows we lay in camp all day 7th all day in camp 8th march about sun rise after marching 2 miles we come to Wainsboro (a small town) march about 15 miles
