but it was just like this. when we up to the front I had but little Idea that I would ever come out alive and I knew you would have enough to keep you so I just went in for a good time and lived high when we were where we could we would buy up a lot to eat and drink and hire a French woman to cook it and it cost money. but now things are different we will be home sooner or later and from now on I am going to send some home each month. I'll tell you mother. I have a whole lot to be thankfull for. two weeks more and we would have been right in the thick of it. when I was going to signal school I met lots of fellows from the 81st and I have often wondered since how many of those fine fellows came thru allright. for they were right in the thick of it. when it stopped. It is just possible I'll beat this letter home.
