Bonnet France Jan. 20 1919 My Dear Mother; Your letter of Xmas day received and was very sorry to hear that dad was sick. one of the boys received a letter from a lawyer yesterday saying his father was dead and it was about the only near relative the poor kid had. I sure do feel sorry for him. so many of the boys have been getting bad news I am almost afraid to read my mail. Today is the first day I have drilled to mount to anything since the day before Xmas I went to the hospital the day after Xmas and when I got back to the Co. I was marked quarters for five days. and found out today that it is going to take a
