May 1, 1919 Bonnet France Dear Mother; Well I am still here but the billeting detail left today and we leave sometime before the 7th. and we are moving closer to the coast. and I'll tell you I am mighty glad of it. you know this area where we are is the one where the first American division trained and they dug lots of trenches and ect. and of course the roads are in bad shape for our heavy trucks have tore hell out of them for the last two years The orders were to leave the area in the same shape as
