Lester Iowa August 1st 1884 Dear Sidney I recieved your letter over a week ago I and i was very glad to hear from you i would have wrote to you sooner but i could not for i have been sick i have had to give up work but i have not been home yet and i dont know whether pa will let me come home or not but i shall find out whether he will or not i have had a sore on one of my limbs down near the ankle it has been on there four years that is what i got by being a man and working out of doors and i am getting is doctored now and that is what makes me sick i had the Erysipelas in my feet about three weeks ago and it settled in that sore it is now ten Oclock at night i guess i will have to go to bed i expect you are in bed long before this time tonight so good night and take care of your self
