Saving...
anyhow because we have more ratings and an easier life. The grass always looks greeniest on the other side of the fence but at that Im glad Im in the Air corps and not a "gravel cruncher." On the way back to town we came thru Mussolinis Fair ground. remember at the time of the Chicago Worlds Fair he wanted to have it in Italy and they constructed some fine buildings which are now apartments etc. this country could use more of them some to the places people live arent fit for pigs. they haven't changed their mode of living for hundreds of years and are in the same dirt I think. Went up to the high point of the city and got a beautiful panorama of the town and harbor. The bay is supposed to be one of the most beautiful in the world. there was a full moon and it did afford a mighty pretty sight shimmering on the water. If it hadnt have been for the smell you might have imagined you were in a city back home near a water front. Must get this off tonight so will close and write more tomorrow. Got your letter telling me about my birthday present. I thank you an awful lot. I think you are too good to me but sure appreciate it. Also got the telegram from my section of land in Texas must investigate that when I get home. must be a valuable asset all the returns were [gotten?] from it. Love Johnny
