Saving...
August 20, 1944 Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother This is a beautiful Sunday morning, not to hot and the sun is about half hidden which is a relief. I think Ill go to church this morning if I can get cleaned up and shaved. Went last Sunday and quite enjoyed it. We are to have a chapel built of stone. it is more than three forths completed. just needs the tile roof and floor put in they are having pews built with backs on them which will be considerably better than the bomb [illegible] racks they have been using. The chaplain asked for donations last pay day and got more than twice what he expected so was much pleased. Still havent had any mail, it has been several days since Ive had any but it will all come in a bunch. Most everyone is having it the same so cant complain. Got my P.X. rations this week and we have a can of grapefruit juice that tasted mighty good. wish they would have it every week. Only got this much written this morning but will carry on from here. Just finished a shower didnt get to church this morning, had too much work to do. Did find time for an hours nap after dinner tho which did me a lot of good. Havent heard from Bob since I saw him two weeks ago, rather suspicious he may have been moved hope not tho for he had a very nice set up where he was and working conditions were fine. We still havent had our Iowa picture taken one time the photographer didnt show up. another time it rained and so it goes. They havent given up yet tho so I may make it yet.
