Saving...
Sept 29, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: I've just come from a meeting and will write this before I go to bed. Intended to go to the movies but it didn't start till late so I decided I could use the sleep to better advantage. Wasn't a regular picture anyhow, a newsreel, couple of comics and a G.I. show of one of the invasions. Took a helmet bath this afternoon while I could take advantage of the sun's warmth and even then it was coolish. Sure hope we get our shower rigged up so we can warm the water soon. We plan on having a stone shower building, up till now its been kind of a makeshift shelter with no provision for turning the cool breezes. We had a dental inspection yesterday & my teeth are okay thanks to Bob's fixing them up when we were together. I'm certainly glad he checked them over for me for it's the first real going over they've had since I left Texas. Had a V-mail from you today written the fifteenth and one from King, he is very nice to write and I've had several letters from him. Expect he's all excited about the coming election and doing some stumping for some of his friends. I'm sorry to hear Dickey is sick hope he doesn't have that chronic bronchitis like I've always had. One of my friends just returned from Rome and has been telling me about his trip, very interestingly too. He remembers everything he see's and seems to find all there is to see. I do want to get to see it if I can and there is a good chance I may.
