CaffeƩ au lait 3 oz of Coffee, 1 oz if Isinglass, nearly 1 pint of water, Let that Coffee just boil a minute and then start a little time before straining it through flannel, which must be done untill quite clear, then put the Isinglass into a saucepan and pour the clear Coffee it, boil it a Minute, add 1 oz or More of Sugar, and when that is dissolved put it in a Mould, and leave it to get fine. Take a piece out and pour boiling Milk over it for breakfast or Tea. Mrs Howe Sends receipt April 29th/56. A Good Spring Medecine 1 oz Root liquorice, 1 oz Dandelion-root boiled 20 Minutes in 1 1/2 pint of water, strain it over 2 oz Epsom Salts, then bottle it for use, And take 1 wine-glassful night and Morning.
