For Liver Complaint 1 oz and 1/2 of Dandelion root 1 ox of Elecampane root, 1 oz of root Liquorice to be cut up in thin slices or stripes, to a pint and half of water, boiled and to 1 pint, let it simmer slowly for an hour. This receipt is if you cannot get the Milk Thistle Seed. Mrs Howes Sewds receipt April 29th/56 Pomatum for the Hair Take 1/2 an ox of Bees-wax cut very fine, 12 Table spoons-fulls of salad oil, melt with a gentle heat, when nearly cold, scent it to your taste, a few drops of [Burgamot?] is best. Mr Chastons receipt of [Sonestaft?] October 26th. 1857. Hair Wash, (Chaxton Lowes /of/) Aeitic Acid 1 ounce, Eau deCologne 2 drachms water 2 ounces and 6 drachms = Mix together
