Edinburgh Medical & Surgical Journal July 1813.

On Oil of Sourpentine in Epilepsy - by Ed Percival M.B. Dublin - 
"The specfic action was emmenagoful'.
Three cases states - in which the oil seems to have alleviated, but not removed the complaint. s. 

For Epilepsy. L.A. - from Blackburne

20 grams of extract of Jalap
30. Do - of Rhubarb
20. Do - of prepared Calomel
5 Do. of Tartar Emetic

A sufficient quantity of syrup to make the above into 30 Pills, two of these Pills to be taken at Bed time, three times a week. - should they make the Patient sick, the first or second time, it will be better; & most probably they will make him much thinner. 
Malt liquor & spirits must be particularly avoided.

Hooping Cough. a wine glass of Rums, 2d[y?] worth of Spirits of turpentine - shake them together, & rub the child by the fire, gently down the neck and chine, night & morning. [Illegible]: Aug. 13. 1813

Hooping Cough - a Teaspoonful of Antimonial wine, in a little water, just as the Cough is coming on. Newsp. Ext: p. 316.
avoid butter & fat meat.
