To Clean Polished Stoves (Mr Branwell) [Meat?] Oil and Emery powder rubed over with & piece of flannel then rubed off with a piece of leather and finished by well polishing it with a clean shammy leather. The Emery must be well dried as it is otherwise apt to Scratch the Stoves. In Damp Weather it ought to be rubed every other day with the Polishing leather. To Preserve Cucumber Take small Cucumbers and large ones that will cut into quarters, the greenest and most free form seeds you can get, put them in a strong salt and water in a strait mouth jar, with a cabbage leaf to keep them down, [tie?] a paper over them, set them in a warm place till they are yellow, wash them out, and set them over the fire in fresh water with a little salt
