Saving...
April 2, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Another nice warm spring day, one of the fellows got some garden seeds from home which he gave to me, reckon I'll plant them if I can find a suitable place. There are radishes, carrots, lettuce, turnips, sweet corn, watermelons, beets etc. some of them came from Earl Mays. The ground is very hard & dry but maybe they'll come. Went to church yesterday morning and it was quite nice, the morning wasnt very pretty tho but it didnt rain. There were some negro G.I's that sang very well and I enjoyed that. The speaker system which was rigged up failed along at the beginning of the service so it was difficult to hear much of the sermon. Tomorrow I leave on my pass so I probably wont write for a few days. Was afraid I might not get it but everything worked out fine. Will be with a couple of fellows I know so that should make it more pleasant. Had a nice long letter from Aunt Jennie tonight. Im glad she is recovering from her operation so nicely. Also got a V-mail from you so I fared pretty well, only one in the tent who got mail. Went to the service club to get a hair
