June 18, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: Got three nice letters from you today the most recent mailed the thirteenth & the others the days previous. Expect that very nearly catches me up tho they say it only takes a couple of days for air mail to go thru. Hope you get my first letter in a day or so you'll know I've arrived safe & sound & wont worry. Had a letter from John Booth who is at his home in Connecticut, he didnt say whether he was home on furlough or getting a discharge or what but was thrilled at seeing his baby daughter. Some of the boys have heard from the advance group and they all seem to be in the states at bases near their homes. As yet I havent heard from Bill but hope he is home. I have been hearing rumors both good & bad. I'm still hoping that I'll be lucky but you know I've never been the lucky type. Gosh how I'd like to be located near home or better still to get out on points like some of the fellows have. Pretty warm today and only a few sprinkles but then it's only two oclock so we
