you must excuse this paper for it is the last I have got and the last postage stamp. This I have carried in my overcoat pocket all last week through the rain. We have got now where we can't get neither paper or postage stamp it is all they can do to get provisons to us. You may not get this but I shall write it. I wrote a letter at Bulls Run and sent it by the mail carrier of the 64 Bat NY you may not get it. I told you how to direct your letters but you cannot direct your letters so I can get them maybe it would be best for you to not write for I should not get it we dont know where we shall be to night now last night the troops had only got here and got their supper and they were ordered back they left their knapsacks and took a double quick back so you see we can't get letters here but I shall write every chance
