Crossed the pontoon Bridge and took the road toward Leesburg which runs around the foot of Loudon Hts next to the river you can stand in the road and look up the side of the mountain a 1/2 a mile or more steep as the side of a house The Potomac is only about 10 rods wide here where it runs through the mountain. When we got around the mountain we came up the valley we are in now about 2 miles and camped. Yest day morning we were on the move at sunrise and came as far as here nere the mouth of the gap . The name I do not know I will tell you as soon as I can The vally or gap is about 1/2 mile wide. The rebs cavalry come up this vally after their raid in to Myrland in is a very important place in a military movement that is the reason
