Then you can emagine the places it has been in. Lewis is here in the tent. he got back the 5th of this month. he is well and hearty as ever he was. We had about 6 inches of snow here last week. It rained all day yestday and the mud is 4 feet deep, but I suppose the peopel of the North say No winter quarters On to Richmond let them come here and try one week they would go back a shadow of them selfs We have got to have time to end this war it canot be ended in a minute nor a day. We are not discoureg yet after they have taken away our best Gen. and insulted them. The blame of our not meeting with sucess here the first time lies with the cabinet at Washington it was traced there by the comittee
