from Aunt Olive. Uncle Norton was very sick and Charly had got well and gone back to the Regt. again and their company was out foraging nd got taken prisoners but were parolled [sic. paroled]. Albert was the man of the house now they were seeing pretty hard times The West feels the affects of this war more than the East does, but conquer we must for our cause is just. War is a great evil but we have only tow [sic. two] choices to make freedom or slavery. I hope it will be decided soon. You said warren told some big story about the war. I presume he did but he saw nothing in the fighting line. We expect to get payed [sic. paid] this week or next.
