Morning Apr 22th Falmouth Va Wensday [sic. Wednesday] Dear father I have just received your letter of the 12th it found us all well and hope this may find you the same. We are still in our old camp yet and have to keep 8 days rations on hand ready to move at a moments notice. I expect you will get the news of the raid our cavalry has been making. 15,000 of our cavalry have started to make a raid betwix the rebs here at Fredericksburg and Richmond and distroy [sic. destroy] the railroad and telegraph. We heard from them twice yesterday if they succeed it will be a good thing over the rebs
