About 4 O'clock in the afternoon. The rebels attacked along the whole line their main attack was made on our left flank. The rebs massed ..... infritry [sic. infantry] and made a grand charge against our left flank with about 40 thousand men. It was grandest sight I ever saw to see them advance on to our battery. They got right out to our batterys and shot their horses down so we couldn't move the guns. Then our infritry [sic. infantry] met theirs. Then our corps was orded [sic. ordered] up and we drove the rebs back across
