Forty-one. April 1, 1918 Honey- It wouldn't be fair for me to write you an April fool letter tonight because it has been so long since I wrote at all - surely as much as three days. I am just back from conducting a three-day tour of a certain part of France for five distinguished ge'men sent over by the governor of a certain state to investigate the conduct and condition of the home boys. At 6 o'clock tonight I shipped them off thoroughly worn out and happy from many, many miles of travelling and the thrills of sights such as the man in "cit's" clothing doesn't often see. We saw the troops in rain and sunshine in camp and on the road. And they really are a magnificent sight! Out of the hard
