taken time to acknowledge the announcement I sent her, so far, and really dear, I can't write to her and thank her for what she sent to you. It is quite sufficient that you have done so; and I'm sure you did it charmingly, dern you. Now I shall have to say " 'scuse me" for all this, and if you really want me to, of course I'll be glad to write her anything you say. You'll have to ask me again, tho. In fact, you'll have to tell me to, instead of making the suggestion. Your method of saving a letter to read just before you go to sleep - or any time, in fact, is a fine one, but I couldn't make it go. When mine came, I have a regular spree. I always start at the foot of the bed and walk all the way across, up into the corner among the pillows. Then everyone sits around quietly and listens for any parts I may condescend to read aloud. I really can't enjoy a letter unless I am perched up in the corner of the bed. By the way, what do you mean by, "after I have lumbered off to bed".? Mama says it must be something like the way I get in. There is a lot of ceremony to my performance. I generally pretend I am
