2. do not know just "where I am at." Still I am designated "Statistical Officer" which means a general assistant to the Adjutant. My years of experience in figures and accounts perhaps make me more useful in such work. Then I have the Post Office on my hands, pursuant to P.O. experience as P.M. of my home town 35 years ago. Still I am nicely situated - a good bunch of officers, comfortable quarters and mess. Haven't missed a meal since we all hooked up together at Ft. Snelling in August. Some star boarder. Several promotions have been made in our old Ft. Snelling crowd. Col. J. D. Leitsch is now Brig. Gen. at Camp Fremont Calif. Capt. Fred H. Baird, Gen. staff at Wash. DC. a Major. All well deserved promotions. Our 3rd Liberty Loan is a big success. I never saw a greater united effort. A few pro-huns are of course in evidence but they are meeting their just deserts. And this will grow hotter for them as reports of casualties come from over-seas. This war will cement all elements of our many nationalities into a solid mass against the pro-hun traitors, as nothing else could have done. Not in a hundred years will they regain their former standing in the various walks of life over the world. Our Div. is filling up out of the new draft. I wonder if it means for us to move. All hope so.
