but instead she said, "Why Mrs. Reynolds, isn't a suite a living room, bath room and bedroom in a big hotel?" Of course they had the fun they expected, and I was furious for a few minutes, but lan' sakes! They are all so dear that I can't stay peeved very long. Besides, they didn't really mean anything but to have a little fun with me. They work like beavers for me. I gave them an exam last week that covered everything we've had all year, and it was a pretty stiff one, too. Everybody had 100 save two girls who began the second semester. They have made up their work and their marks were above 90. We had a very interesting debate about a week ago, to decide whether the church had been a help or a hindrance to the advancing of music. It was a hot debate, but we finally decided against the church, which was what I was hoping for. I am sorry Sisters Stockard, James and Cramer were not present. I'm about half asleep. I didn't get to bed before midnight last night, and couldn't sleep when I did go. It's striking eleven by the village clock even now. You are a long way from me, honey child. I realize it more than ever when I am alone and the house is still. During the day my work keeps me from too much heartache, but at night I am always lonely
