Thirty-four March 19, 1918 My Sweetheart, Before me are five of your letters that I haven't answered yet. One of them - dated January 28 - walked in today. So tonight I shall browse among them and stick in my part of the conversation. The first that I pick up was written January 13, or while I was still in Washington. The fact that I got it a few days ago along with letters of February 17 and 18 shows how lackadaisical our mail service is. But it doesn't matter - just so some of them are coming all the time. The first good chance I get I'll have some kodak pictures of moi-meme taken for the Cottey memory books. I wish I could have got some up in the trenches the other day. Orders don't allow that, though; we can only have personal photos with no background showing. I'm quite in love with this idea of having a "ready made" family of charming
