be out hoeing the pumpkins. I'm keeping in trim just now by gardening; so I may learn a lot that will be valuable. Out behind our censure americain we have a beautiful garden. It is the French sort, laid out in geometrical plots with walks winding between them and shrubs and hedges bordering them. Vines cover the high stone walls, and part of the garden is a little grove of chestnut trees carpeted with green vines. Already the crocuses are blooming. It was delightful to work out there in the sunshine yesterday. Thanks to your good friends we are evidently accumulating a lot of valuable material for the great day when we can open our own establishment. Your ideas about what we are to have coincide with mine exactly. Let's get the very best if we have to do with only a little at first - no trumpery, only the things that are in such good taste that we know we shall always
