Saving...
Thirty five March 20, 1918 My dear Daffodil, The colonel has beat it off to see the secretary of war review some troops and left me nothing to do this afternoon. So I'm improving the opportunity to get some writing done without taking the time for it out of sleeping hours. I have just replied to letters of congratulation from Lieutenant Iverson and Mr. President Jessup. Both letters I am saving for your memory book. Mr. Iverson is about 50 and was formerly state auditor of Minnesota. When the war broke out he managed somehow to get a commission and was assigned to Fort Snelling, where I became acquainted with him. I quote for you his glowing comment
