2 thing of that sort for me to be so far away from you without much chance of getting back until "apres la guerre." She sympathized with you mostly. French women, you know, if they are in love at all, are simply wrapped up in the lives of their husbands; so it seemed a very tragic thing to her that a husband should be so far away with no chance of going home on "permission." Bless her heart! I suppose you notice this is the second letter I have written to you today. Having so little else to do, why shouldn't I write twice the same day? I didn't even have any work this evening. After I finished writing earlier I went down to the club and listened to the music until dinner time. I wish you could hear those fellows. They are common soldiers, but I suspect they must have been artists of some consequence in
