4 whether it is really necessary or not. From my letters written on board ship you know that while you were wondering what I was doing I was thinking of you and wishing you were with me. It is so always. Whenever I am doing anything that has its pleasant, interesting features I wish for my sweetheart to share them with me. "For she's such a jolly good fellow." Tell Mrs. Stockard from me that she has my hearty gratitude for the interest and good will she showed in turning the vespers into a celebration of my arrival in France. And those girls! I am simply overwhelmed with nice thoughts about them for their interest in the Reynoldses and their enthusiasm about their sojer father. Kiss them all for me. Perhaps I shouldn't and wouldn't do it myself even if I were there, but kisses bestowed
