Christmas Eve. [12-24-42] Dearest. It has been two days since I wrote to my honey I was on guard and it rained and was cold and foggy The company went out on a nite problem I was lucky to miss that Today was just average day did nothing that amounted to anything I opened my Christmas present tonite it sure was nice so I will write to my sweetheart on its contents tonite I haven't got a thing to give you I feel sort of bad about it I would like to be home with you tonite I would like it to be a normal Christmas in stead of messed up like it is We can live in hopes of happier times I didn't get any mail today no one got much must been held up somewhere I don't think we will work tomorrow altho you can never tell about this outfit They issued us foot lockers today that will make it easier to keep stuff straight It don't seem at all like Christmas the boys are around feeling blue and cussing I don't feel blue and I'm not
