305 West Washington Centerville, Iowa December 15, 1941 Dearest, This noon when there was no mail I certainly felt low. Then tonight your letter was here! I don't know but what an afternoon delivery is more exciting because it is less common and at the end of the day. I get more mail in afternoon than the rest of the people in the house and less than they get in the morning. CF and Sioux City mails both often come in the P.M. I was hemming a bit on those linen towels. I didn't start 'til last night and I did all the basting first so that I still haven't much more than a quarter of one done. I'm awkward and slow at sewing as I do so little of it. I do it mostly by main strength and with very little skill! It is no burden or task I dislike but just a matter of getting at it. Katey E got herself into a dog collar outfit apparently. I'm rather surprised both because it is Katey and because I did not know him. She will be able to keep the new job if she wants it, I'm sure. She is intelligent and can manage well, but such a set-up is hard. I quite approve of the double ring ceremony and, less important, the blue dress!
