Fort Dodge, IA June 30, 1942 Dear Laura Thought I might write you a line this morning just in case you are interested in what is going on. Yesterday I went in to join the Navy. Passed my local physical exam, except the color perception test. It was so poor that I am eligible for navy construction work only. I decided to try that in preference to the army. Anyone may enlist for this work if he has not been ordered to report for induction by his draft board. The local application for enlistment stalls off the draft board immediately. Thought Lloyd
