Saving...
817 - 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa January 7, 1942 Dearest, It is now 7:20 and I am down at the office to see if I can't get at some of the junk piled up on my desk. It seems like a hopeless mess, but I must get some order out of the chaos. And I can if I just have a chance without interruptions. Today I planned clerical stuff and if that wasn't just the time one of my men had to be put in the strong room at St Lukes. The confusion and trouble in trying to solve all the problems connected with that took me until 5:20. I finally got to the shop, then home and fixed the fire. Came down to Harmony to eat so I'd get a full meal in a short time. I hadn't had much breakfast and I ate lunch at home, so I needed a square meal. This noon I rode of on Bever to 19th - with Helen and galloped home. Brought Polly down as I had expected to work after five until I got too hungry then quit work. But when this case came up I had to change my plans without notice. I rode on bus and will drive Polly home when I go.
