No. 72 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Ia. May 28, 1943 Dearest, Friday again. The weeks roll on. That is a help for both of us as the quicker time goes the sooner we will be together again. I'd like to get more mail, but I know you'll write when you can. Some old hen told one of my friends that she got mail from Africa regularly and if I didn't it was because you didn't write. That is a right conclusion in one way, as I can't receive it but the false thing is you will not neglect writing when you have the opportunity. I do believe some people would sit up nights to try to stir up doubts and manufacture troubles. But when it comes to things between you and me, that can't be done. We love each other, and no matter what happens to either of us in the way of trials or illness, our affection and understanding will keep on growing. I feel sorry for soldier couples that don't have complete trust and understanding because it would be easy to be impatient when we can't be with each other. But we don't have that trouble and we are ready to go on with our home life as soon as circumstances allow. I watch the papers closely and I believe you are very busy. Perhaps on the move again. Uncle Earl had another embolism and Aunt Maude called Alberta to help her. He is in the hospital and his condition remains about the same for three or four days. Aunt Bessie is a little better. Bobby has his exam next Thursday. All news I can think of. Love, Laura
