Let the stove be well warmed when the cake goes in & keep a slow fire all the time - Bake 4 hours. Fruit Cake, (Mrs. Fred Sasscer. I leave out the ginger & put a heaping dessert spoon cinnamon, raised desert spoon alspice & level one of cloves, I use 1 1/2 lbs dates instead of the figs. Ingredients, 3 lbs raisins, washed & drained in a colander. 1 1/2 lbs citron sliced, 1 lb English walnuts cut very small. 1 do of Figs cut up into little bits, 1 1/4 lbs flour, same of brown sugar, 12 eggs, 1 wine glass of Sherry wine, & 1 wine glass of brandy or whiskey half a tea cup of molasses. 1 heaping tablespoonful of ginger 1 tea. spoonful of mace, 1 of cinnamon, a whole nutmeg grated. 1 raised teaspoon of yeast powder & 1 lb of butter. When the fruit is all prepared, mix it thoroughly. Take one pound of the flour, & into it put all the spices, stirring them
