[page]45.[/page] Asterella hemispherica. This plant differs from the preceeding species in being smaller and of a pale bluish green color. The fronds are thinner, rigid, brittle, radiately and dichotomously branching, often forming circular patches. It is hardy, perennial and increases by joints from the tips of the fronds. The margins are irregularly lobed. The upper surface is distinctly porose, and the ventral surface is provided with rhizoids, and two rows of purple imbricating scales, PL.XIII. fig. 2.
