Hydroxylammonium sulphate crystallizes from the alcohol in short spicular crystals quite soluble in water. (When sodium metasulphite (Na[subscript]2[/subscript]S[subscript]2[/subscript]O[subscript]5[/subscript]) is added to sodium nitrite, the temperature of the mixture rises but [inserted]no[/inserted] escape of gas accompanies it. The mixture shows no presence of hydroxylamine until after boiling when it is acidified and again thoroughly boiled.
