The glands (a) are six in number and alternate with the Fibro-vascular bundles. (b) or ribs. They are oval and elongated, surrounded by supporting cells. Fig. 2. is a diagram of a section of the Fennel, with the two mericarps. Here too the glands (a) are between the Fibro-vascular bundles (b). They are more rounded than those of the caraway and have not as regular forms.
