Each little leaf has its peculiar [illegible], which distinguishes it from all others and likewise the form of each capsule; the teeth of the peristomes, the operculum, the calyptria, which covers all - all are different. The capsules contain the spores for the reproduction of the plant and such quantities are reproduced year by year, that not a county or climate on the globe is without them. The influences of heat and cold upon them is extremely limited.
