15. Polytrichum commune* Linn. Plant growing in wide large and loose tufts, arising from radiclase? creeping? shoots. It has a hard, [illegible] appearance. In color it is dark brown often approaching a dirty brown. The stems are simple [illegible],[illegible], slightly tri- angular and covered with scales. The leaves are clasping at the base, lanceolate, accuminate, [illegible] or slightly reflexed or recurved, [illegible][illegible] and whitish at the base, borders narrow and [illegible].
