18. At the base of the stems is a whorl of leaves, below this a single [illegable] having a similar bunch of leaves enclosing the antherida. The pedacle? is an inch or an inch and a half in height with a clear brittle appearance and is slightly inclined to be spiral. The leaves are large broadly lanceolate or obovate with an acute apex, the margin entire and the costa extending the entire length.
