30. Fruiting flowers solitary. Capsule spherical or globose, erect, symmetrical. Pedicle short reddish and cone shaped. Peristoma simple, teeth short, lanceolate, irregularly articulate, sometimes rudimentary or none. The species varies according to its habitat. On dry rocks exposed the stems are shorter; the leaves opposed when dry and slightly shorter and narrower. Open and erect when moistened. Capsule somehwat longer and narrower, peristome either wanting or fragmentary and reduced to a membrane more or less lacerated.
