The cilia filiform, simple and branched. Capsule on a long dark brown pediale Operculum, uniform in color, annulus none. Habitat. In mountainous or hilly districts. Fruits in winter. There are about a hundred and twenty-five known species belonging to the genus [Hypnum?] besides many varieties of the same species.
